What is your insurance agency doing to give back to your local community? Sure, you provide vital insurance products to protect your clients, but giving back is more than that. It is about building your brand and value to your community — to current and potential clients. What are some ways you can do this?
Support your community. What resources are available to community members who are in need? Is there a food drive that could use some extra items? Is there a clothing drop off that needs seasonal items? Are there support centers for families in need? Are there programs for children in need? Could you mentor a young professional, college student, or even a family member trying to make a difference in his or her own life?
Volunteer your skills or your location. What programs need help within the schools or after-school programs? Could your conference room accommodate a non-profit’s meetings or volunteer training once or twice a month? How can you help at-risk persons better their own situations within your community? Are you encouraging your employees to volunteer? Of course, they have busy lives, too. Are you able to build in an hour or two of their time each month to provide community service?
Support your local businesses. You are a local business. Do you support other local businesses? Online retailers or big box retailers in the next city may offer more attractive prices, but the customer service is rarely as good as at the local brick and mortar store.
